Sunny Destin, Florida is home, but you’ll find me exploring (and working) all over the world..really anywhere with WiFi and a good coffee shop. I’m in love with beautiful planners, good wine, and analytical data. Stop hustling alone and let’s build the business you want!

Tell Me More!

Hello!

So you had a kick-butt startup idea and now business is booming. Great, right? Well, it’s great until you suddenly realize you’re three days behind on a project and your team members all seem to be waiting on one another to complete their portion of the work before the task can move forward. When communication falls apart, it’s bad for business (not to mention your bank account).

There are a number of ways to track your team’s progression with a particular assignment: the annoying email-everyone-every-day-for-an-update approach, write it down (try not to lose the paper) and check it off your list, or the ever popular schedule a weekly meeting and track everyone down to remind them method. You’re exhausted already, right? Us too.

There’s a better way to set and accomplish goals with your team.

What Is Asana?

Asana is an online project management tool that helps organize your tasks, assign portions of the work to specific team members, and then track their progression through completion of the project. Asana is designed to help you spend less time talking about work and more time actually getting it done.

And for the budget constrained – many tools within Asana are free to use.

Asana integrates with your files and systems to make the collaboration less labor-intensive. Use the online tool to keep track of your to-do lists, eliminate project-update meetings, and set private reminders for yourself.

What Can Asana Do?

Manage your projects and communicate instantly with only the team members associated with the project or a specific task associated with the assignment. Under each project, you can detail the tasks and team members can write in updates as they complete the assignments or answer questions from others.

With Asana, you can:

  • Establish projects
  • Link specific team members only to projects with which they are connected
  • Detail the tasks needed to complete the project
  • Assign those tasks to a team member
  • Schedule a due date for each task
  • Allow all team members to comment on the project or ask questions – avoiding a project delay from confusion – and receive email alerts when a question or comment is posted
  • Highlight when tasks are overdue
  • Check off when tasks are finished

The latest feature created by Asana, Timeline, allows you to place project tasks on a Gantt-style spreadsheet, which alerts you when there’s a dependency conflict.

Benefits Of Asana

As if drastically reducing the number of meetings in your life alone wasn’t worth trying Asana, your team will become better organized with these key benefits:

  • Fewer communication gaps and breakdowns
  • Save time (no meetings, no check-in emails, no late-night phone calls, etc.)
  • Save money – it’s free
  • Central location for project communication
  • Integrates with popular programs like Dropbox, Microsoft Office 365, Zapier, and more
  • Mobile-friendly platform
  • Benefits one-woman rock star or an entire team

Manage your to-do list, develop strong communication with your entire team on a single platform, and build private tasks and projects to ensure you’re growing your business, not just managing the people within it. Have you utilized Asana yet for your business? What improvements have you seen with your team’s productivity?
